Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Blue Fountain Interactive Ltd for using KoLesson, on the web and in the phone apps.

Last updated 9 October 2026

In short

  • KoLesson is the software that communities and courses run on. Each community is run by its own owner, not by us.
  • You must be 16 or older. You sign in with a code sent to your email; there is no password.
  • What you post stays yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people in your community.
  • Follow the Community Guidelines. Content and accounts that break them can be removed.
  • KoLesson sells nothing inside the app. If you pay a community's owner, that payment is between you and them.
  • You can leave at any time: Settings, then Delete my account.

1.Who we are

KoLesson is a service of Blue Fountain Interactive Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17372662). Our registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. In these terms "we", "us" and "KoLesson" mean Blue Fountain Interactive Ltd.

By creating an account or using KoLesson you agree to these terms, and to the Community Guidelines, which are part of them. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information. If you do not agree, please do not use KoLesson.

2.What KoLesson is

KoLesson gives a community a home: a place for posts, comments and polls, courses with lessons and video, events, direct messages between members, points and levels. A community can be reached on its own address under kolesson.com, on the owner's own web domain, and in the KoLesson phone apps.

Each community is created and run by its owner (a "creator") and the team they choose. The creator decides who may join, what the community is for, what is taught there and what its own rules are. We provide the software. We do not run the communities, write their courses or check what is posted before it appears.

On a community's own address you may see only that community's name. It still runs on KoLesson, and these terms still apply.

3.Who can use KoLesson

KoLesson is made for adult learners and business communities. You must be at least 16 years old to have an account. If the law where you live says you need to be older than 16 to agree to terms like these on your own, you must be that age.

You may not use KoLesson if we have closed your account for breaking these terms, or if the law forbids you from using it.

4.Your account

You sign in with your email address. We send a 6-digit code (and a one-tap link) to that address each time; there is no password. Anyone who can read your email can sign in as you, so keep your email account secure.

  • One account is for one person. Do not share it, and do not create accounts by automated means.
  • Use your real name or the name you are known by. Do not pretend to be someone else.
  • One account works across every community you belong to. Your name, photo and bio are the same in each.
  • You are responsible for what is done with your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us through the Support page.

5.Joining a community

A creator decides how people join their community: by invitation, by asking, freely, or after buying something from the creator. A creator or their team can also add you by your email address, for example after you buy from them.

The creator and their team can set an end date for your access, remove you, or suspend you from their community. Those decisions are theirs. Any arrangement between you and a creator (what you were promised, what you paid, how long your access lasts) is between you and that creator. We are not a party to it.

6.If you run a community

This section applies to you if you own a community or help to run one (as an admin or moderator).

  • Your community is your responsibility. That includes what you and your team publish, the courses you teach, the claims you make, and how you treat your members.
  • Your members. Only add people who have asked to join or bought from you, or who otherwise expect to be added. When you add or import people by email address, you confirm that you are allowed to share their details with us for that purpose. You decide why and how you use what you learn about your members, so for that use you are responsible under data protection law in your own right (see the Privacy Policy).
  • Your payments. KoLesson does not take payments from your members. If you charge for access, you do it with your own payment provider, under your own terms. Prices, receipts, taxes, cancellations, refunds and any dispute with a buyer are yours to handle. You must tell buyers clearly what they are buying and who they are buying it from, and honour the consumer rights they have by law.
  • Moderation. You must keep your community within the Community Guidelines, look at reports from your members within 24 hours, and act on them. Your own rules can be stricter than ours, never looser.
  • Lawful use. You must follow the laws that apply to you and your community, including laws on consumer protection, advertising, financial promotions, data protection and intellectual property. Do not offer anything you need a licence for unless you hold it.
  • Your own domain. If you connect your own web domain, you confirm that you control it and will keep its records pointing where we ask. We may disconnect a domain that stops pointing to us, that we believe is not yours, or that is used to mislead people.
  • Plans. What your community includes depends on its plan. KoLesson has no checkout today: any fee for running a community is agreed with us separately, in writing, before it applies.
  • Your team. You are responsible for the admins and moderators you appoint.

We may pause a community, or remove content from it, if it breaks these terms or puts members, other people or the service at risk.

7.How to behave

The Community Guidelines say what is not allowed on KoLesson and what happens when they are broken. They apply to everything you post or send: posts, comments, polls, direct messages, your profile, courses and events. In addition, you must not:

  • try to get into accounts, communities or data that are not yours;
  • interfere with the service, overload it, or go around its limits;
  • copy members' details or content in bulk, by a program or by hand, for use elsewhere;
  • copy, resell or reverse engineer the KoLesson software, except where the law gives you that right.

8.What you post

It stays yours. You keep ownership of everything you post, upload or send on KoLesson ("your content"). We do not claim it.

The permission you give us. So that the service can work, you give us a licence to host, store, copy, convert (for example resizing a picture or preparing a video for streaming) and show your content to the people who are entitled to see it: the members of the community you put it in, the person you sent a message to, and that community's team. If a community's owner has switched on a public page, the page can show the community's name, description, course titles and the titles of pinned posts to anyone. This licence is worldwide, non-exclusive and free of charge, and it is only for running, securing and improving KoLesson. We do not sell your content and we do not use it for advertising.

How long it lasts. The licence ends when your content is deleted from KoLesson, apart from copies in backups, which are overwritten on a schedule (see the Privacy Policy). If you delete your account, your profile is erased, but the posts, comments and messages you wrote stay in their communities, shown as written by "Deleted member", unless you remove them first. The licence continues for those for as long as they stay.

Your promise. You confirm that you have the right to post your content and to give us this permission, and that your content does not break the law or anyone else's rights.

If you are a creator, the same applies to your courses, lessons and videos. They remain yours.

9.Moderation, reports and blocks

You can report a post, a comment, a message or a member from inside the app, and you can block another member so that you no longer see each other's posts, comments and messages. The Community Guidelines explain both.

A community's team can remove content, and can suspend or remove members, in their community. We can also remove content, close or suspend an account, or pause a whole community, when we believe these terms or the law have been broken or someone is at risk. We are not required to check content before it is posted and we do not promise to find everything that breaks the rules.

Reports sent to us through the Support page are reviewed within 24 hours.

11.What belongs to us

The KoLesson software, its design, its name and its logo belong to Blue Fountain Interactive Ltd or to those who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable permission to use the website and the apps for as long as you follow these terms. Nothing in these terms gives you any other right in them.

12.Payments

KoLesson sells nothing inside the app today. There are no in-app purchases and we do not take payment from members.

Some creators charge for access to their community or courses. They do that on their own websites, with their own payment providers. If you pay a creator, your contract is with that creator: they set the price and the terms, and questions about charges, cancellations and refunds go to them. Neither Apple nor Google is involved in those payments. The Support page explains what to do if you cannot reach a creator who charged you.

13.Other services and links

Communities can link to other websites and can show videos from services such as YouTube, Vimeo, Loom and Wistia inside a lesson or a post. Those services are run by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for them.

14.Changes and availability

We work to keep KoLesson running and secure, and we will provide it with reasonable care and skill. We do not promise that it will always be available or free of faults: it can be interrupted by maintenance, by faults, or by things outside our control. We may add, change or remove features. If a change would take away something important to how you use KoLesson, we will try to tell you beforehand.

Please keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose, such as your course material. You can download a copy of your own data in Settings.

15.Our responsibility to you

What we never exclude. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the rights the law gives you.

What we are not responsible for. Subject to the paragraph above, we are not responsible for:

  • content posted, sent or taught by creators, their teams or other members, or for what they do or fail to do;
  • anything you buy from a creator, or any arrangement between you and a creator;
  • loss or damage that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care;
  • delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control;
  • services run by others, including the embedded video services and the app stores.

If you use KoLesson as a consumer. We provide KoLesson to you for private use. If our service damages a device or digital content of yours because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or pay you compensation, as the law requires. We are not liable to you for business losses.

If you use KoLesson for a business (including as a creator). We are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings, for loss or corruption of data, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in any twelve months, for everything connected with KoLesson, is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us for KoLesson in those twelve months and £100.

16.Suspending and ending

You can stop at any time. To close your account, open Settings and choose "Delete my account", or use the Delete my account page. You are signed out everywhere at once and the account is erased 14 days later; signing in again within the 14 days keeps it. If you own a community, it must be handed to another owner or closed first.

We can suspend or close an account, or pause a community, if these terms or the Guidelines are broken, if we are required to by law, or if keeping it open would put members, other people or the service at risk. Where it is reasonable we will tell you why and give you the chance to put things right first. For serious breaches we may act at once.

We may also stop providing KoLesson altogether. If we do, we will give at least 30 days' notice where we reasonably can, so that members and creators can save what is theirs.

When these terms end, the sections that are meant to continue (what you post, what belongs to us, our responsibility to you, and the law that applies) continue.

17.If you use our phone apps

If you got the KoLesson app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not with Apple or Google. They are not responsible for the app or its content, they have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it, and questions and claims about it should come to us. You may use the app only on devices you own or control, as their store's rules allow. You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo and are not on a United States list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms for the iPhone app: once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you as far as they concern your use of that app. If the iPhone app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation for it.

18.Changes to these terms

We may change these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. The date at the top of this page says when they last changed. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it applies. If you keep using KoLesson after a change applies, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, stop using KoLesson and delete your account.

19.The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can decide any dispute about them.

If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the laws of the country where you live that cannot be set aside by agreement, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country instead. So a consumer living in Scotland, Northern Ireland, an EU country or Nigeria, for example, keeps the rights and the courts their own law gives them.

20.Other points

  • These terms, with the Community Guidelines, are the whole agreement between you and us about KoLesson.
  • If a court finds part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • We may transfer our rights and duties under these terms to another organisation that takes over KoLesson; your rights will not be reduced. You may not transfer yours without our agreement.
  • Apart from Apple, as set out above, nobody else has rights under these terms.
